Wheeler Weightloss Challenge

I know this isn't a very good time of year to try to start a diet, but I thought I'd at least introduce the idea to see if anyone would be interested in joining me in an effort to get healthier.

They (the evil diet people) say that it's easier to stick to an exercise and diet program if you have someone to report to. In this case, we could have a group to report to.

Because we are all at varying degrees of weight and health, it'd be hard to select one goal for everyone to meet. For example, Ben and Caleb will probably want to gain weight and I want to lose weight.

I'd love to hear any ideas that you may have. My original idea was that the most successful person would get a pre-determined and desirable reward paid for by the other members of the group.

What do ya'll think? Any ideas?

I, for one, am in--all in. I support the idea of a reward. Maybe we could all set personal goals and whoever reaches theirs can be rewarded? Or whatever. I have no good ideas.

I too am interested in losing weight. I think Melissa's idea of setting goals and whoever reaches theirs can be rewarded is great. I personally would like to get my BMI to where it is supposed to be for my frame size so that means losing between 65-85 pounds.

I was thinking about getting within my healthy BMI range too...I'd like to lose 20-30 lbs.

The goals sounds like a good idea. Any ideas for a reward? Cash is always nice...maybe for a new wardrobe!

Me, too. I need someone (or some someones) to report to, too. (Did that sentence make your hair curl, Melissa?) Anyway, Dad and I start out great, but then we get "too nice" to each other and decide to have a carton of ice cream or something similar!!!

Maybe we could each pick (and probably provide) our own reward (and interim rewards for steps along the way) and leave it in care of someone else. If at the end of the specified time period we haven't earned it, it can go to the next Wheeler vacation or Sub-for-Santa or DI or ?????? Maybe that's too harsh?

I think personal rewards would work well. When does everyone want to start? Nov 27? Dec 1? Dec 4?

What do ya'll think of doing something all together at the end of 6 months to celebrate (if we've succeeded that is)? Maybe that's too long...3 months? 4 months?

I may be a liitle late joing this post, be that as it is young Rdub is in.

Elgrande has lived a long life, and needs to become Eltiny.

What is this bmi stuff? You're dealing with someone who has never cared about weight loss in the slightest, so you'll have to educate me. What would i be satisifed with? A loss of 60 pounds would be just peachy. Reward - well I spoke with Connie about two weeks ago and suggested we give our selves something expensive when we reach our goal.

rdub1953I was a bad boy today. A nutlog, frosty, an excellent thick soft cookie, (Tim told me I could eat it), a Wendy's greasy Hamburger, and no exercise.
